For Healthcare Providers

One Call. A Whole System of Care.

The Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line (BHHL) was created to make access to mental health and substance use care faster, easier, and more coordinated for both you and your patients. Since launching in 2023, the BHHL has handled more than 122,000 calls, guiding individuals to information, stabilization, and connections to clinically appropriate care.

Always Here for Your Patients

The BHHL is a free, confidential service available 24/7 by call, text, or chat (833-773-2445MassHelpLine.com). No insurance is required, and interpreter services are available in over 200 languages.

Providers can share BHHL information with patients or contact the BHHL directly to initiate a warm handoff. The BHHL’s trained mental health professionals can:

  • Provide real-time support and stabilization
  • Assess behavioral health needs
  • Coordinate and follow-up on next steps for ongoing care

Connection to Care

The BHHL connects patients to a full spectrum of behavioral health services and providers across the Commonwealth, including Community Behavioral Health Centers (CBHCs) and Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) sites that provide:

  • Outpatient clinics offering rapid access to coordinated mental health and substance use services
  • Individual and group therapy, psychiatric medication consults, medication for addiction treatment, and referrals to treatment
  • Same or next day evaluation, pharmacology, and addiction medication within 72 hours of initial evaluation
  • Extended outpatient clinic hours: 8am-8pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on weekends for CBHCs, and variable extended hours for BHUCs
  • Additionally, CBHCs offer 24/7 in-person crisis support (MCI) and short-term overnight crisis care
